Make A Move, Do Tha Thing, Turn Around and Strike A Pose

My husband found this jacket at a thrift store for like 2 bucks.

December 3

It was a couple sizes too big, so for less than $20 I had it tailored. When I took it to the shop, the guy who manages it fussed over it and so did the woman who is the actual tailor. Saying how fashionable it was and how this was coming back. Then yesterday when I went to pick it up the girl behind the counter remarked that she had noticed it and really liked it. She asked if it was vintage and she remarked what a lucky find it was. I always feel like I’ve found a real treasure when it causes a stir at a place that sees clothes old and new all day long!

It’s almost over the top in its hipster-trendiness, I know. Acid washed, colored denim, military style, cropped…I don’t even care. I LOVE IT. I call it the Jacket of Awesome Town, and when I am wearing it, I am clearly the Captain of Awesome Town. Feel free to salute me.

The little loops that the buttons go through as so tight it’s not actually possible to button the jacket, which most likely explains its “like new” condition. But I don’t care. I’m still the Captain.

I’m always so thrilled by my husband’s thrift store finds. He has the touch. I do not. Have you noticed that some people find awesome things and some people don’t? I don’t. I am up for one, maybe two stores, and if I don’t find something AMAZING at one of those I am ready to call it a day. Nathan can go to store after store after store, find nothing and be content. I just have no patience, so I’m glad he does!

I am just like you! I have been to the thrift store a handful of times and have found nothing!! I think some people just have the vision. they can see something 3 sizes to big which smells and is totally wrinkled and immediately see it laundered, altered or even dyed!

I prefer finding my bargains in target and on ebay :)

You look fab though, so right on hubby!

I am gonna have to co-sign that your hubby is a good thrifter. How did you train him so well!? lol.
I love the military vibe. I am sure I would have passed it up if I saw it because it's acid wash but your tailoring gives it a whole new vibe.

I salute you!

Aside from loving the jacket and the price....

your husband BUYS CLOTHES FOR YOU??????!!!!!!

Wow. That is the coolest. If my husband even attempted to do that, I'd faint. But he makes sure my internet works, so I guess that's something.

"Jacket of Awesome Town" is hysterical. Love this!

I salute you. That is the most absolutely amazing thing I've ever seen. And I'm not even exaggerating (which might reveal sad things about my life). LOVE IT!

Does that make Nathan the official stylist or buyer of Awesome Town? Ah ha ha, I love it. That jacket is SO YOU. I adore the fact that Nathan knows what you will love and totally rock so well. Yeah, it does take a special kind of person to be so good at thrifting (I am NOT)--lucky you!

Cue Twilight Zone theme music...

I bought that jacket's long lost twin last week at the thrift store!

Well, mine is longer and not acid washed so maybe not TWINS but definitely a sibling or at the very least close cousins.

I almost wore it today with a black dress and tights just to bring the creepy similarity quotient to a maximum.

Wow, colour me impressed with Nathan's fashion savvy! I remember jackets like that around 1987. :-P

Looks great on you and not at all like a thrift find.
