Tires can be so stinking expensive. (I know - awesome writing skills there)
So how can you save money on tires?
There are a number of options:
1. Online coupons --
yes there are alot of coupons for tires. Follow all of the tire dealers in your area on Facebook, Twitter or by email and watch specials.
2. Printed coupons --
When you get the Sunday paper or the mailers on Thursday or even the coupon books kids sell for school -- check them for coupons. You can also find coupons for tire locations in the Yellow Pages or Yellow Book sometimes.
3. Price match --
Ask if your location will honor competitors or can they offer even a price match plus 10 percent off deal.
4. Negotiate --
- Always ask if this is the best price they can offer you.
5. Buy used --
Did you know you can buy used tires? You can. You basically want at least half tread tires. (If you have a flat you can even buy 1 used tire to replace it, without spending a lot of money.) Used tire places are pretty common.
5A. When you're buying used tires, ask about the brand and if they are indeed half tread tires. Before you commit, look up the tire online to confirm average mileage etc.
5B. Used tires are definitely a great option if you are in desperate need of tires but can afford $400 for full set. It would be better to purchase 1/2 tread for a third of the cost, than to borrow money for $400 and owe interest etc.
6. Don't forget to ask -----
Always ask if rotation, flat repair and any other perks are included when you purchase a full set.
7. Always inspect the tires before you leave
. Look for loose lug nuts etc.
