Halloween Spending Through the Years

My favorite thrift store has a section dedicated to seasonal items. The number and variety of Halloween items in this thrift store surprised me. The National Retail Federation indicated that spending on pet costumes was around 350 million dollars in 2014 and is rising at the rate of 59% since 2010. Halloween then and now.

Be willing to sacrifice- there are things we had to do that made us look weird: home school, skip eating out as much with family, doing my own hair & nails, getting a wardrobe from the thrift store and forgoing paper towels. I had a client engagement in Las Vegas in March 2014. We still look for bargains and shop at thrift stores.

Choose Thrift First. While I love thrift stores, I can be easily swayed to run into Target, TJ Maxx, and/or Kohl’s when I feel like I need something. I’m curious to see how much we can save and also how creative we can get by making do with what we already own or looking for things at a thrift store. 2014 Update.
