Five Frugal Things | with two sandwiches

The Frugal Girl

I have a small sandwich theme going on. Are we surprised? (no.) 1. I got a free chicken sandwich At lecture, my friend alerted me that the Chick-Fil-A app had a free sandwich in it (something to do with the local baseball team, I think?) Sooo, I placed an order and grabbed my free sandwich on the way out of college. 2. I bought some razor blades on eBay I’ve used Dollar Shave Club for a long time and been very happy but…recently they redesigned their product line, which means I can n

Four Frugal Things (and one not-so-frugal)

The Frugal Girl

1. I planted some green onion ends I saved the root ends of two green onions that were in my veggie drawer, let them sit in water for a day or two, and then stuck them in the dirt in one of my outside pots, where they will grow new green onion tops. I’m not close to considering myself a gardener, but this is easy and reliable enough for even me!

Five Frugal (mostly tiny) Things

The Frugal Girl

Mostly tiny things this week! 1. I got an annual symphony pass So, after my little $10 symphony evening the other week, it occurred to me that other nearby city symphonies might also have a student program. And as it turns out, they do! Another city offers a student deal where you pay $35 and then you can go to basically as many concerts as you want over the next year for $0.

WIS, WWA | $18!

The Frugal Girl

What I Spent It was a cheap week at my house. I spent $18 at Safeway, and that was it! That’s an awfully short spending report. So, here’s a picture of the brilliant blue sky from yesterday. I walked out of an appointment, looked up, and felt so happy when I saw it, so I stopped and took a picture. Also, when I got home from the appointment, I went out for a walk, stopped in a sunny spot, closed my eyes, and just soaked up the sunshine.

Thankful Thursday | Injection #1: done!

The Frugal Girl

This week, I am thankful: that I got to give an injection this week I had only ever done injections in the lab, in a fake practice sponge, and I felt rather terrified of giving an injection to a human being. It’s just a label, from my lab bag. No needles in sight. ? But this week in clinical, I did it! I was nervous, but it went fine, and I think I will be less nervous next time.

Q&A | cinnamon, SIM, jeans, and grocery spending

The Frugal Girl

Hi Kristen! I would like to ask, how do you freeze cinnamon bread? Do you bake it first? Pre-slice it? Do you have a post about how you freeze stuff? Thank you! -E I do bake it first! I let it cool thoroughly, then put it in a plastic bag and stick it in the freezer. If you have a smaller household, you could cut the loaf in half and freeze each half separately; that way you can just get out half a loaf when you want some cinnamon bread.
