After a HOT and steamy summer where the air conditioner ran all day, our windows are finally open and fresh air is blowing inside. No air conditioner or heater needed, just an extra jacket or blanket. But there is one more reason why I love fall-- no heating or cooling bills.

I’m not complaining because we haven’t used the air conditioner since early August during a two week heat spell. Our September utility bill dropped $80 because of the mild late summer and early fall weather when we didn’t have to run the central air conditioner. The seasons are clearly confused.

Hanging clothes outside to dry makes our electric bill far more manageable when the temperature spikes and the air conditioner is turned on.
