Today starts a brand new year. We all get the opportunity to start fresh for 2011. It is a great time to rebound and get back on track after the spending season. I will doing a series starting mid next week on getting Back to Basics. The Back to Basics posts will be an opportunity to learn the ins and outs for new couponers – and for old timers, a chance to refresh and refocus. I will be featuring guest posts from other bloggers and maybe even some video.
So with this in mind, I thought about my resolutions for 2011. I want to get back to saving money and staying on budget. However, each year I make resolutions that I just cannot keep. You know the drill. Lose weight, eat better, exercise more, quit some annoying habit.. so forth and so on.
This year my resolution is a little different. I resolve to do less.
– I resolve to spend less time worrying.
– I resolve to spend less time planning and more time doing.
– I resolve to say yes less often.
– I resolve to spend less time trying to be more than I already am and just enjoy what I have today.
– I resolve to spend less.
What is your resolution for 2011? Do you think you will stick to it?

After such a stress-filled year, my resolutions are simple — to get back on a more normal sleep schedule (and I have a doctors appt in January) and to start saving $100 a month for emergencies, as recommended from the TV show “Til Debt Do Us Part,” which, by the way, is great. It’s on CNBC. The host is fantastic.
Shannon, thanks for prompting me to think about it :-)

My resolution this year is a little different, too. This year, my resolution is to be happy. To not let the nay-sayers and Negative Nellies have an effect on my attitude.
Shannon says
@Crystal S.,
That is a great resolution!

I resolve to begin to follow flylady again (check her out at flylady.net), to finally get my abs back (after 3 babies), and to have more patience (did I mention the 3 babies:) ) Wish me luck!

I resolve to stop eating out so much. I can’t afford it anymore.
I have to get back to packing my lunch and suggesting cheaper ways to spend time with friends.
I would also like to track my spending more.

I resolve to not only coupon. But to track my spending…. It is easy to go and get great deals. It is harder to know when to stop.

1. Resolve to sock away more money to save on a down payment for a condo.
Shannon says
@Nicole W.,
That is an awesome resolution – home ownership is definitely a big goal, but you can do it!

Me and my husband are doing this as well. We have rented forever and now we’re going to save up for a down payment!! Hope it works for you

I don’t like to make resolutions because as usual, they are never followed through with. I love your resolution of do less except mines the complete opposite, do more.
I want to spend more time time getting organized on both my site and my personal life, do more budgeting, spend more time with my husband, etc. This past year has flown by and i’d say my life has done a complete 180 after some deaths and losing my job of 3 years. It has forced me out of my “comfort zone” and pushed me to follow my dream of running my site and paying off debt so I can afford to be a stay at home mom when the time comes.
I am excited about the prospects of 2011 and what this year will bring, I can’t wait to really start my “new life”.
