Wednesday Baking-Overnight Cinnamon Twists
The most delightful thing about this recipe is that everything except the baking can be done the day/night before, which means that you can enjoy fresh, cinnamony goodness for breakfast without having to get up at 4:30.
Here’s how to avoid baking before the sun comes up.
I actually don’t ever use my pizza cutter for its intended purpose but (Note: This recipe will be unnecessarily picture-heavy, since I’m dearly in love with my new camera lens. If you read me on dial-up, you might want to stop reading and come back tomorrow.)

Wednesday Baking-Homemade Hamburger Buns
This recipe has been on my baking blog since last spring, and I’ve been meaning to move it over here, but just haven’t gotten around to it. While the yeast and water are standing, combine milk, butter, sugar, and salt, and heat in the microwave until lukewarm(105 degrees F). Place each disk onto a greased baking sheet, cover with a wet tea towel, and let rise in a warm place for 45 minutes.
I brought these to a church function on Saturday, though, and got a few recipe requests, which reminded me that I needed to get this posted. I’ve linked to

Wednesday Un-Baking-Chocolate Cereal Snacks
In a small microwave-safe bowl, melt chocolate chips and peanut butter; stir until smooth. Tags: Wednesday Baking saving electricit I seem to have a thing for chocolate and peanut butter, no? This summer I’ve posted a recipe for Chocolate Peanut Butter Squares and one for an ice cream cake with chocolate-peanut butter crunch.
In actuality, my love for chocolate and

Wednesday Baking (or not)-Chocolate Peanut Squares
Today’s baking recipe requires, um, no baking. Which, I suppose, means it’s not actually a baking post.
Combine chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave, stirring occasionally, until chocolate chips are melted. But if you’re like me, when it’s hot outside and you’re trying to avoid using your AC, or are trying to use it minimally, you’re not in the mood to crank up the ol’ oven.
So, here’s a recipe you can make without heating up your kitchen (I found it in an old Taste

Wednesday Baking-Sandwich Bread
When I posted about my baking day back in June, I mentioned that sandwich bread was one of the items on my baking list, and a number of you asked for the recipe. Heat milk, butter, sugar, and salt in the microwave or on the stovetop until it reaches 120-125 degrees.
Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 20-25 minutes, or until lightly browned. So, here it is!
If you prefer to make whole wheat bread, you might want to use my Whole Wheat Bread recipe , or you can substitute whole wheat flour for part of all of the white flour in this recipe.

Where There’s a Will, There’s a Way
No, the main problem was that I needed to melt some butter and heat some milk, and with no stove and no microwave, I was sort of low on options.
The milk didn’t get quite as warm as it would have on the stove or in the microwave, but it worked just fine, and we had a lovely pan of rolls to go with our salad at dinner (the power came back on before I had to bake them, thankfully. I don’t think my grill would ( Apologies for my blog’s disappearance yesterday. For a couple of hours, my server was offline because of a network outage.

Cup-o-Cakes & Tup-o-Cakes: Easy, Frugal Portable Desserts
Whenever we bake a whole cake, it often begins to go stale before we’re halfway through it. When you feel like having cake, put a few spoonfuls of batter in a microwaveable cup or mug. Microwave for about 1 – 1½ minutes or until cake is fully cooked.
To do this, follow the same For our very first Frugaltroph article, we decided to feature our new favorite frugal dessert. Therefore we came up with the idea of Cup-o-Cakes, an easy, time- and money-saving way to prepare personal-sized cakes as a snack for yourself, to enjoy with a friend or everyone at your dinner table.

Wednesday Baking | Apricot Coffee Cake
It’s from a really old Fleischmann’s yeast recipe cookbook that I used to bake from when I was a teenager. This particular recipe is from the freezer section of the book, which contains recipes that allow you to do all the prep up to the baking stage and then freeze the bread/rolls/coffeecake. When you’re ready to do the baking, you just take the frozen product out of the freezer, let it thaw and rise, and then bake it.
This is a favorite recipe at my house…my kids love to eat it, and I love that it can be made ahead of time. This is not

Cooking and Baking Your Way to Savings
Cooking (at least for these purposes) is not heating up a Hungry Man dinner in the microwave. Baking is always a prominent part of my savings through cooking at home. A very specific type of cooking, baking from scratch allows me to make all kinds of tasty things for my family. In either case, Saving coupons are shopping sales are both great ways to stretch your food budget, but they’re not the fastest way to save money on food. The easiest way to cut your food budget is to prepare as many of your meals at home as possible.
