It’s old news to my friends and family that I think cars are a sinkhole for money. When you tally up payments, repairs and depreciation, cars just seem to flush your wealth down the drain. Many are spending 15 – 20% of their take home pay on the car payment alone. However, a brand new car is never a need.

i love public transit!
If you live in a large city with a well developed public transit system you are very lucky. You can forego buying a new car and simply buy a cheaper, used car to drive on the weekend. If you want to go to another extreme you can opt to not purchase a car at all and simply utilize the public transit system.
