Sombrero Cookie Recipe
Cinco de Mayo is just days away and this Sombrero Cookie Recipe is perfect to serve your family or guests. Who doesn’t like a cookie and these cookies are so cute and festive. They only take 4 ingredients and are simple to make.
Bake cookies per instructions on package or you could use your own recipe. You could even buy already baked cookies if you wanted to make this recipe even easier. You then pipe the icing around the cookie and place the round candy coated chocolate pieces around the cookie using the icing as “glue.”
Pipe a little more icing in the middle and place a dot on top. Let icing dry for about 1/2 hour before serving.

Sombrero Cookie Recipe
Ingredients
- 12 Pillsbury Ready To Bake Sugar Cookies (or can use store bought)
- 1 theatre box tropical Dots candies
- 4 oz bag Sixlet candies – primary colors
- Cookie icing/gel in red, green and yellow
Directions
- Bake cookies according to package directions.
- Cool completely on wire rack.
- Line a cookie sheet with wax paper.
- Place 12 cooled cookies on the cookie sheet at least 2 inches apart.
- Pipe your choice of colored icing/gel around the edge of each cookie. (I alternated using red, green and yellow).
- Place colored sixlets (or other round candy coated chocolate),about 6 per cookie on top of the piped icing- leaving spaces between each one.
- Pipe a dollop of icing/gel in the middle of each cookie. Place a Dots candy piece on top of the gel. I matched the color of the Dots candy with the color of icing I piped around each cookie.
- Let the cookies “dry” for at least 30 minutes.
- ENJOY!!
