Menu Planning Monday: my menu for the week of 3/22
I had "plans" for dinner last night, but it didn't quite work out like I had planned and we ended up eating frozen pizza. Mix all ingredients in crockpot and cook on high for 5 hours or low for 8 hours. Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours. If you're new to meal planning or trying to cut your grocery budget, I'll be sharing a "frugal" or "from the stockpile" recipe several days this month (at least that's my goal!). To help me with this task, I'll be having guest posts (if you're interested in sharing a guest post/frugal recipe, e-mail me!)

Ham Challenge Round 1: An Introduction + Dinner
When it comes to cooking Easter dinner, I have always favored purchasing and baking a spiral sliced, pre-cooked ham – mainly because I find them easy to make and because my family likes ham (including my picky 4 year old!). received my ham last week, and decided to make it for our dinner on Saturday night. As I mentioned If you celebrate Easter in your household, you are probably aware that it is right around the corner. That is why – when a representative from the Ohio Pork Producers Council contacted me about participating in a “ham challenge”

Easy, Frugal Cooking |Chicken Tacos
I poked through Cook’s Illustrated’s website and found nothing (only a steak taco recipe), so I decided to search some other online cooking sites. So, I decided to go with the Cook’s Illustrated steak taco recipe and just modify it for use with chicken. Because I’m not that good terrible at cooking whole chicken breasts, I always cut mine in half lengthwise so that they’re A couple of months ago, I decided that I wanted to learn how to make Chicken Tacos. The wealth of chicken taco recipes was overwhelming, and I had no idea which recipe

Pizza Bread - Cook At Home Day
For this week’s Cook at Home day, I made a pizza bread. I got the idea from Kate at the “Cooking During Stolen Moments” blog. Cook the pizza bread in a 350 degree oven for about 15 minutes.
The picture didn’t come out too well but the pizza bread didn’t last too long so it must have been good!
I just adapted my own recipe from my own pizza recipe. Instead of making the pizza in the regular manner, I used the same ingredients but “rolled up” the dough to make a loaf of bread instead.

Cheap Chicken Dinner Recipes
This meal does take some time to prepare, though, so I don’t recommend trying to cook it on a night filled with other activities.
Add chili pepper, a sliced green onion, a chopped tomato, and shredded cheese to cooked chunks of chicken. Next, you should cook the chicken chunks in a skillet until they are browned and cooked throughout. Chicken can be a versatile component in a family’s menu plans. Less expensive than beef, I’ve found that using chicken as my main meat allows me to stretch my grocery budget much farther than I could otherwise stretch it.

Cut grocery costs: become a vegetarian
For a family of four that eats meat 7 nights a week at dinner, going vegetarian could save you $29 per week or $1,522 per year. Tags: Cheap Eats Cooking Grocerie I am a red meat and potatoes kind of girl. So giving up all meat for Lent is one of the healthiest - and cheapest - decisions I have made in a long time.

Five Casseroles that Stretch Your Food Budget
Begin by cooking a bag of your family’s favorite pasta. Tuna Noodle Casserole – Cooked egg noodles, tuna, and cream of mushroom soup come together to create this comforting dish. I love the fact that I can make up several different casseroles over the weekend and freeze them for use during the next week or two.

Cheap Fall Meals
As crazy as our house becomes during the first few weeks of school between Back to School Nights and the wrapping up our summer activities, the last thing I have time to do is spend hours in the kitchen preparing dinner. My solution is that during the Fall months I often prepare a couple of extra dinners on Saturday that I can make ahead of time for the coming week. During this time of year, I am always on the lookout for cheap Fall meals. I’m not looking for just any cheap meal, though.
