Grocery Report and Menu Plan | in slightly more detail than usual
For a change this week, I divided my groceries into piles, and took pictures of each. A lot of you have asked for more detail about my shopping, so I’ll explain a little bit about why I bought the items in each picture.
My Aldi groceries cost $45.95 and my Weis groceries cost $39.03.
First up, the cold stuff. All of it is from Aldi except the Yoplait.

Discerning Luxury from Necessity
Of course these are not the only necessities in the world, and it’s different for everyone, but when you really think about it, true necessities are actually quite few in number, and many things that you think you need are in fact not that necessary.

Grocery Shopping Strategies
Grocery shopping can be truly overwhelming. Before you even think about buying groceries, make sure you have an organized storage system. Look in your newspaper or mailer to compare local grocery stores’ weekly specials before you go shopping, and don’t feel that you have to do all of your shopping at one store. Of course, this only makes Chelsea Ehrke is a newly-engaged writer with an inability to sit still and an unexplainable persistence in the kitchen. Monday Q&A | Sunday Meals, Grocery Shopping, and Snack Foods
I shop at Walmart because I thought it was cheaper. loved your comparisons about the two stores and while I agree on everything- the size of the stores, the cleanliness, the parking lot, etc… I was wondering if you really do save money by shopping at Aldi. As I mentioned in my post about Walmart, I don’t often shop for groceries there except for when we go on vacation (could Aldi please add a Myrtle Beach location???). Every Monday, I answer a few of the questions that my readers send me. If you have a question you’d like me to answer in a future

Weekly Grocery Shopping Trip: Publix, Saved 82%(!) and I learned something new, too!
I learned a new trick to ramp up my savings EVEN more at the grocery store! Your local grocery store might not give you both the BOGO *and* the sale price-- but my local Publix did.. I had a few wine tags and 2 $10 off $40 coupon (from Whole Foods) that are expiring tomorrow, 12/31/08, so I decided to make a run to the grocery store tonight-- I'll probably make one more run tomorrow to use my very last (sniff, sniff) $10 off $40 coupon. I've talked about the power of rainchecks before in this post: http://neverpayretailagain.blogspot.com/2008/10/always-pay-sale-prices-or-how-to-really.html But tonight I had an epiphany-- if you use your BOGO rainchecks (I had two to use tonight-- for 8 o'clock coffee and for Rosetto Pasta) when that item is ALSO on sale AND you have a coupon (and in my case, I also had a $s off coupon-- whoohoo!)-- then you are really, really buying at rock bottom prices.

Why I Don’t Shop At Walmart (and why I prefer Aldi)
This week a reader asked me why, if I am The Frugal Girl, I don’t shop for groceries at the store that has “Always Low Prices!” That’s certainly a fair question, given that Walmart has a reputation for being a money-saving place to shop.
and it’s not because of some strong commitment to ethical shopping, though I understand the downsides of their business model. 8221; as its slogan. I

Save Money On Groceries with Tested Tips
Every time I visit the grocery store, it seems as if the prices have gone up. If you have any more cheap grocery shopping tips, feel free to add them to the contents!
Of course, you will want to get your spouse’s and kid’s input when you plan a grocery shopping trip. It is more important than ever, in a weak economy, to control those trips and put a lid on impulse buys. These are tips that I use, or ones that I have picked up from Frugal Pig readers and my friends.
