Resisting the Urge to Splurge
I received the following comment today from a reader about my earlier post Simple Solutions to Staying Out of Debt :
“All good advice – sadly, it is harder than it sounds. But then again, the more you make the more you can spend, so figuring out how to live within your means is a lesson we should all learn at an early age!” To stay out of debt?

Yes, it is harder than it sounds; almost everything is.

Carrie’s Picks from Coupon Inserts 2/7/10
Eat Out / Recreation
You’ll find four inserts in your Sunday paper this week – a Smartsource, Red Plum, General Mills and Proctor & Gamble. This list highlights which coupons will likely result in a freebie or are unique coupons we don’t see often. Your coupons or coupon amounts might vary, as coupons are regional and I use the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Tags: Eat out & recreation Everything else gift ideas picturek I f you know me at all, then you know that I buy gifts well in advance of when I need them (usually). I snatch up items that are at least 75% off their original price, then give them away as the opportunity arises. I keep a mental list of all the gifts I need throughout the year and run through it when I come across good deals.

Why do you eat out?
The bane of our budget the last few months has been eating out. Luckily, there is usually slack in my grocery budget and it all evens out, but I’d love to be able to take some of that cash and add it to my debt snowball. A bailout, ey?
Is it just me, or is eating out not the best way to deal with a tight budget? Of course, if you’re eating out anyways, you’ll be better off for having used the coupons, but a tight budget can be stretched much farther by shopping at the grocery store and cooking at home.
Lest I seem like a hypocrite, let me say that I do think it’s fine to eat out every now and then(we’re having seafood takeout tomorrow, which we do once a year), but it is most certainly This little flyer came in the mail the other day, and the title kind of made me scratch my head.

eating out or in
Often one of the things that makes it so difficult to save money by grocery shopping is eating & cooking for one. If I cook something and attempt to eat the leftovers, I’m typically sick of it by the 2nd day. Where as going out to eat provides me with variety and quite often (since it’s only me) is just as easy on the pockets. What’s a single girl to do?

Eating Out for Less
I love to go out to eat! Eating out can be a budget killer , especially these days when it seems like the prices on the menu just seem to be going up and up. However, there are a few things that you can do to reduce the cost when you do go out to eat : Use coupons : I usually check all my junk mail (like the Valpak coupons) for restaurant coupons, sometimes there are coupons included in the Red Plum inserts I get in the mail on Mondays, and if you go out to eat a lot, you could order an Entertainment Book and save I mean, who wouldn't...someone
