This is better than endless nights of eating out, but definitely not as frugal as an organized trip to Aldi. I spent $63 at Safeway, spread out between an embarrassing number of trips. What I Spent So I went to pull together my grocery spending for the week and I realized that it’s all quick trips to Safeway.

And eating out wasn’t the exception for me then. We don’t eat out often, but I like to cook. But a lot of things which I would call luxury here in Sweden were very affordable for me when living in China. Taxi rides, tailored clothes, and massages, just to name a few. No lectures, no seminars, no real interactions.
