Prescription Transfer Coupons No Longer Valid in Alabama via State Board of Pharmacy

Prescription Transfer Coupons are a popular way to make money at the store.  You transfer a prescription to a new pharmacy that is offering a deal on with new or transferred accounts and you get a gift card to spend in the store.

That will no longer be taking place in Alabama.

According to Herb Bobo who's with the ASBP "It's a safety issue.  Folks transfer their prescriptions to 12 different pharmacies yet do not have a complete medical history on file.  This can cause health risks."

The resolution was added to the Alabama Code of Professional Pharmacy Conduct.

(h) A pharmacist should never offer or participate in the offering a financial award or benefit, not related to competitive retail pricing of any drug, to induce or encourage any individual to transfer a prescription from one pharmacy to another.
