Anyway we plan to see it this weekend.  To increase their excitement I made Lorax shirts for my sons and a Truffula tree shirt for my daughter.  {the iphone picture of the shirts distorted the color of the trees.  Bright purple, pink and orange.}

My daughter will wear her shirt to school Friday to celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday.

Note -- the hodge podge placement of the trees can make it interesting.

Here's what you'll need:

Solid shirt -- I picked up shirts at Walmart.

Piece of cardboard or posterboard

Puffy paint (if you plan on doing a lot of yellow get the big bottle)  Small bottles are 97 cents at Walmart.

FOR EITHER SHIRT - YOU NEED TO LET THE PAINT DRY 72 HOURS BEFORE WASHING IT.

It will be dry enough to wear before then, just not a good idea to wash it.

Directions for the LORAX SHIRT

Use a solid orange shirt and yellow puffy paint.

Before you paint, insert the cardboard into the shirt so the paint won't bleed through to the back.

I free-handed a mustache on an orange shirt.  I used the puffy paint to fill in the outline and left lines to  simulate hair -- You do not need a paint brush with the puffy paint.

Eyes -- I used white and blue acrylic paint and black puffy paint for his eyes.

Don't forget add a spec of white on the black to simulate catch lights.

Nose and mouth, I used orange paint for both to complete the monochromatic feel of the shirt.

DIRECTIONS FOR THE TRUFFULA SHIRT

Use a solid pastel shirt with assorted colors in puffy  paint.

Don't forget to insert  cardboard or poster board to prevent the paint from seeping through to he back.

I free-handed the circles and stems.

Once you're done with the circles following the tips in the video, go back and draw a stem using yellow or white puffy paint.

You'll then go back over the stem using the black paint and just had tiny little slashes from top to bottom.
