How I made a Dollar Tree heart wreath using Mrs. Polly Rogers' tutorial

The finished product on my front door.Christie Dedman/al.com

The other day

She used two packs of heart boxes from the Dollar Tree, a pie tin, hot glue and glitter.

:

1.  Used the pie tin and hot glue like she suggested, however the hot glue made the whole wreath stick to the cardboard I was using, so I had to rip it off once it dried.  No big deal.

2.  I wasn't able to get all 20 hearts on the ring.

3. I couldn't find white glitter so I used some silver glitter glue I had left over.  It takes forever to dry on the plastic (of course) I used a hair dryer to speed it up.

4.  I also used a clear satin spray paint to seal the glitter onto the wreath to keep it from shedding.

5.  I used a red satin ribbon and tied a bow on the front so it wouldn't look so cheap.

but once I did it, it looked cheap in person.  The bow helped, I think.

6.  My son helped but he wasn't big on the glitter. It's not really a kid friendly project for little ones.

7.  You could substitute E6000 glue if you are out of hot glue.

8.  Total cost - $3 for the pie tins and 2 packs of hearts.
