Couponing in 2012: How a well stocked stockpile benefits your vacation plans

Reader IBSDS15's stockpile. There are numerous reason to have a well maintained stockpile of grocery items. 1. Job loss2.  Sickness3.  Unexpected bills that prevent you from purchasing groceries. 4.  Helping othersHowever one that's often overlooked is your vacation. Here's an example of how a stockpile can help you have an easy transition back into your home after a long vacation:Heather Pemberton Redd posted this story yesterday on the BBM Facebook page:I just wanted to tell you thank you for all you do to inform us of bargains and coupons out there to allow us to stock up on needed items. My stockpile has never come in more handy than today. We returned home from vacation yesterday late and did not want to just run to the store for a few items. My oldest is having asthma issues from all the pollen in the air, so I knew that we were already having to make a trip to the doctor today, plus I had to meet my in-laws to get the dog from them (he stayed with them while we were away). All this meant no time today to go to the store, but thanks to things that I already had on hand, I was able to fix breakfast and dinner for my family (the kids asked to get something out for lunch and since we were picking up the dog anyway, I just didn't argue today). So, I was going to go to the store tonight, but with an awful headache, I won't be doing that. No worries though, i have enough to feed the fam tomorrow as well. Only things I am missing are staples such as fresh fruit, milk, bread, and lunch meat (I didn't want it sitting in the fridge over vacation). Thanks again!!!! :)Include a stockpile plan for your vacation. That stockpile may be items you'll take with you or items you know you will need once you return.  In Heather's case she mentioned she just needed fruit, milk, bread and lunch meat. That would be the case with most families however if you're game -- all of those items can be frozen and used upon return. So how has a stockpile helped you in a mini or major crisis?
