If you get hot, put a cooler shirt on or run a fan. The ideal winter temperature for a house is 68 degrees F in the day time and 55 degrees at night. In the summer, keep your house 2 degrees warmer. This is way more efficient than running your air conditioner. The ideal summer temperature for your house is 78 degrees F. Don’t waste gas.

On really, really cold nights, we put an electric fan in front of the open under sink cabinets to circulate warm air into it. Our kitchen sink is along an outside wall. In really cold weather we open up the under sink cabinet doors to let more warm air in. And then there is duct tape.

We got by back then using open windows, fans and attic fans. Most had a simple stove, a fan on the wall to vent (along with a window), a single sink and a tiny refrigerator. Air conditioning.
