I was going thru next week’s Giant ad — and noticed this great gas deal, starting 2/12. There are definitely some other deals to be had.
Buy (12) Green Giant Canned Veggies $12.00
Get $.40 off per Gallon or 30 gallons x $.40 = $12.00
Free after GAS
Now, I know many of you will say that you don’t get the full 30 gallons, but lets look at it if you only get 18 gallons. (Note, to get the full 30 gallons, you are going to have to be okay with using gas cans).
Buy (12) Green Giant Canned Veggies $12.00
Get $.40 off per gallon = $7.20
$4.80 for 12 cans or $.40 each after gas savings
Giant has also updated the 2012 Giant Coupon Policy. Check it out here/

Still double points in Frederick, MD so I guess this is not worth doing this week. Hope it goes back to normal soon.
Andrea says
The Green Giant canned vegetables will be on gas points next week too – same deal. Have fun stocking up =)
Chuck says
The max gallons you can get using Martins fuel perks in the Richmond, Va area is 20 gallons, not 30. Look at their website. However at 20 gallons using fuel perks it still comes out to 0.33 cents a can.
Erica says
Mash Potatoes are a money maker d/t them being 79 cents a piece. Hopefully some of us will be able to donate to local food banks. I know that they are hurting with this economy and I’m not asking for anyone to donate 500 mashed potatoes but maybe 5 would be nice or any of the free canned veggies
Bonnie says
Erica, the coupons are all in recent inserts. And thesE are all free after gas point deals. I get the full 30 gallons when I go and since I buy gas anyway I count these deals as freebies even though technically I’m paying for the groceries and getting the gas free.
Erica says
Thanks Bonnie! My 4 year old and I are going to be playing “Find that Coupon”! He already told his preschool teacher that scissors are for cutting coupons.
Bonnie says
Too cute, Erica! My six year old loves coupons too, she makes her own for thing that she likesand loads up her pure when we go shopping. My four yr old lives to be on “blink patrol” when we go out :). I sometimes use eBay to get extra coupons, especially on great stockup weeks like this one! They have tons and they average around ten cents each, not too bad when it makes something free. Good luck this week!

Thank you for posting this, and ALL the other deals! I LOVE saving on gas and groceries! We take gas cans and get the full 30 gallons. Thanks for ALL you do!
Shannon W says
Do you have a full picture of this category? I would like to see the prices of some of the other items in order to make up my list.
Thanks a bunch!-Shannon
Maite says
If i buy 24 items..will i get .80c off gas? Or is just one time transaction?
Lisa says
As many times as you want, and my Giant says you can do 24 in one transaction (or as many as you want) and it will show up at the end of receipt. It is not a “per transaction” deal
For the Mommas via Facebook says
Carrie Burke BelleIsle – it was like that at Giant for three weeks – switched back -temporary promotion
Louise Torres says
Our Giants (Lehigh Vally PA) have a policy that you can only fill up your car once / transaction with the reduced price gas, so we can’t fill up gas cans. I have heard of people being stopped by the attendants if they tried to do more than one.
Grace says
You need to do the whole 30 gallons in one transaction. The gas will stop coming out when you hit 30 gallons.
Shannon W says
There is nothing that says you can’t fill gas cans. You cannot fill one car move it and fill another because it is against the law and the fire marshall would come done on Giant for it. Our Giant station will stop someone from filling up two cars but never has a problem with gas cans. I would talk to your manager in the store about it if an attendant is giving you a hard time about gas cans. There is nothing in the policy and it is not against the law! I fill my van and 3 gas cans every week to get the full 30 gallons.
Andrea says
I”m in Nazareth and went to the Forks Giant to fill up once, I didn’t have gas cans and had a full free fill up – the attendant walked over to me and said “I hope you have your gas cans!” So I’m pretty sure it’s just the Giant you are using…seems like they must be pretty unfriendly.
Jamee says
Louise, if you are talking about the one over near Lehigh St., you are 100% correct, I wasn’t able to use gas cans there. There is a new Giant over in Trexlertown that is much more user friendly. Try that one!
Cindy Bird via Facebook says
Didn’t look at this yet to see if Giant in Maryland is doing the 12 items or the double points (ad came out yesterday, but I was uber busy). We’ve had double points for a few weeks, but I’m hoping it goes back. I’ll also have to either pull out the gas cans or fill the truck. Since I prefer to drive the more fuel efficient car or even the mini-van, I’ll settle for getting the 18 to 25 gallons.
Bonnie says
Melissa, get some gas cans and get 30 gallons and it will save you money, every week. An investment and a little bit of a pain, but for the money it saves me all of the time, well worth it :)
I was so excited to see this coming weeks gas deals, so many freebies if you do the 30 gallons and some great MM’s. Just a heads up for Sunday only (the coupon expires) there is a B1G1 coupon for Speedstick, they are on sale for $2 and part of the Buy 4, get 20 cents category, a nice $2 MM!
I’m going on vacation, so sad to miss the gas deals when they are so good, but I’ll be back Friday to try and get in on some of the fun. Just a few freebies that I am looking forward to, taco shells, refried beans, canned veggies, breadcrumbs, mashed potatoes, cake mix, icing and ricecakes. Have fun this week, and save some for me :)
Erica says
Bonnie- How do you figure that the other items: taco shells, refried beans, breadcrumbs, mashed potatoes, cake mix, icing and rice cakes work out to be free? Are the coupons in the paper or computer prints? Thanks!
Melanie Fauber via Facebook says
how do u get the flyers days in advance?
Carrie Burke BelleIsle via Facebook says
This is the third week for my local stop and shops, I hope it changes back.
For the Mommas via Facebook says
Carrie, has it been switched permanently? Giant did the same thing a few weeks ago, but now they are back to gas points and instant savings.
Shannon Jarrard Owens via Facebook says

Jenn says
what i want to know is – where did you find next week’s ad?
Shannon says
Jenn,
Through almost 4 years of blogging I have developed a relationship with the grocery stores and get most of my ads early. Out of respect for the stores, I do not post my matchups until Saturday.
Mel says
I can usually pick one up at my store on Friday’s. Just ask at custmer service if they have them available yet.
Carrie Burke BelleIsle via Facebook says
So if I buy 12 of the canned veggies I will earn 24 points. big deal lol
Grace says
Yeah, that is NOT a good deal. I like the gas cents off much better.
Andrea says
My brother and sister-in-law are in Northern VA and their Giant is still doing the double points this week which stinks for them. I wanted to teach her how to start doing gas deals. Booo!
Melissa B. says
I usually buy my canned veggies when they are 50 cents a can, so this deal doesn’t save me any money. I got all excited for a minute, though. LOL!
Grace says
UMMMM you get them for free after the gas deal. That is much better than 50 cents a can!
I really don’t understand when people are negative like this. Obviously you don’t understand the deal.
Here is how I look at it. I am going to have to fill up my gas tank, so I might as well get the food/or other items with the money I would be spending on gas anyway.
Thanks Shannon for the heads up! GREAT DEAL :)
Andrea says
I don’t usually buy canned veggies, but I did this time. I only get 20 gallons of gas so I only do deals when I can get them for around $2 for every .10 off…unless I use A LOT of the things that are part of the deal. So for me – 12 cans x .99 = $11.88 – $8 gas = $3.88 which makes for $.32/can so it’s still better than your $.50/can PLUS I get gas. If you only get 10-15 gallons of gas, you might be right, it might not be worth it for you to do this.
Carrie Burke BelleIsle via Facebook says
My stop and shop has switch from X items = X points to “buy any of these items and earn double points”. Anyone know if this is everywhere and is it going to be all the time now? I don’t like it!
Mel says
Are you sure they switched every week? About 2 weeks ago our add was double points but then this week it was back to gas points.
