Frugal Living: 7 Uses for Onion or Potato Sacks

Frugal living is not for the weak.  It's for the creative.

My belief is that I should try to find at least 2 uses for every item that comes into the house.

That may not always work, but it's a challenge to come up with things and it can be fun.

That brings me to onion or potato sacks.


It's a mesh bag made out of plastic.

Here are some ideas from around the web and what other folks are doing with these bags:

1. Gift wrapping -- Tha

2.  Save them for gardening season -- Create a stockpile of and use them to transport your harvest or gift portions of the harvest to a friend.

3. Create an instant scrubber - You could toughen up an average sponge by inserting the sponge into the bag.  You could insert left over, wadded up tin foil to create a rough scrubber.

You could also simply fold it over and use it without stuffing -- as a scrubber.

4.  Go

suggestion from Yahoo to use it while vacuuming.  Place it on the end of your extension tube to prevent large items from being sucked inside the tube.

5.  Washing dishes while camping --  Place your dirty small utensils in the bag and dunk it in the outdoor cleaning station.

6.  It's dishwasher safe -- Wash your child's toys, pacifiers etc. while inside the bag placed on the top rack.

7.  Use it at the produce store or farmers market to tote your produce home in, instead of the store plastic bags.
