Frugal Parenting: Homemade library & bookstore

The kids turned the kitchen & dining room into a library/book store this afternoon. They pretended to check out customers and had story times for both kids and adults. They told me they even had a coffee shop so I would stop by and check out books while enjoying a cup of Joe.

If your kids are squirming and looking for something to do at the house today encourage them to get creative and set up a bookstore or a grocery store etc.  Find cards for them to use as 'library cards' or check cards.

You can always clean up later.

Some tips for making it a learning experience:

1.  Alphabetize the books

2. Sort by topic

3.  Divide by reading levels

4.  Create check out dates and return by dates using a calendar

5.  Help them remember then write common rules found in a library
