Frugal Living: Keeping an Extra Pair of Shoes in the Car

shoes.jpg

Today the shoes I was wearing when I left the house, on my way to work, broke.  I was almost downtown and didn't want to drive all the way back home.

SO?  What to do?  What to do?

The last time this happened to me was around 2000 or 2001.  The old Parisians was still at the Harbert Center plus they delivered!

I actually called their shoe department, bought a pair of shoes over the phone and they delivered them to me.

WHAT??  Actually delivery was free.  The shoes were $20.  (So not that bad of a deal)

Parisian's is long gone and so are my days of paying $20 for a pair of shoes when I know I have options at home.

So today I stopped by a

to check out their sandals real quick.  I got lucky and snagged an office appropriate pair for only $3.75.

(Original price $10.  I wouldn't have paid $10 for them.)

($3.75 is about the price of a gallon of gas that it would have taken me to drive back home and switch shoes, so technically I was paying for convenience and to stay on schedule at the office)

(Can't wear flip flops here --  or I could've gotten out for 50 cents)

I got lucky.  The shoes aren't my favorite but they'll do.

For $3.75 I can afford to keep them in the car as a back up pair just in case.

So do you keep back up clothing, sunglasses, totes or shoes in your car?
