Does anyone know how this points balance program work? I have one specific question, if one buys for example, 5 mitchum deodorants will one earned 5000 points or just 1000 points? This does work the same way as the register rewards?
For the Mommas says
I hope someone answers because no one seems to know the answer!

I guess we will have to find out through trial and error this Sunday. I just got the Walgreens ad today for next week and it looks like it will be beneficial for couponers. There is a good mixture of register rewards offers and balance points. I’ll post if I find out anything, I know I won’t have any luck asking Walgreens employees, we seem to know more than they do about register rewards, coupons, etc.

Ruth,
Would love your feedback a few weeks in. :)

The Balance Rewards program worked without a flaw for me today and so far it is awesome. Far better than any other program even the CVS Beauty Club, I’m in love with Walgreens again.
—One question that I had is if the points accumulate if you buy more than one item that is offering the balance rewards. It does add up the points, I bought 7 Mitchum deodorant and received 7000 points in one transaction.
—Another one of my concerns was if you redeem the points in a transaction that you will give out a register reward, will the register reward print? I bought 2 Gillette razors, used 5000 points that I had accumulated from a previous transaction and did receive the 10.00 RR.
—One of the posts below stated that the points take 3-5 days to appear on your card but it shows right away and you can use it in the next transaction.
—I wasn’t used to scanning the card at the beginning of each transaction but the manager did the transaction over again so I could get the points added to my card. Some managers are awesome which kind of makes up for the nasty ones.
—So far, I’m loving this new program, the best thing is that you can buy multiple items at once which is offering balance points and you will receive the points which saves me a lot of time. Even if they do away with the Register Rewards, the points balance works out better for me at least since I shop for a lot of people.
During my visit, I accumulated 20000 points plus register rewards and used only 5000. I’m sure they will tweak the program because right now it is great for couponers.

Company reserves the right to limit Points awarded with respect to any offer or promotion to reasonable household quantities.
There doesn’t seem to be a way to tell if you get the points or not either, because they won’t post to your card until 3-5 days after purchase.

This seems to be worse than Rite Aid, at least there the UPR can be used the next day. It will be interesting to see how this programs works. I was looking forward to it but now I’m not as excited about it.

You will only get the points one time. Even if you continue to make multiple transactions. One offer per customer.
Ruth says
I bought 7 items in one transaction and received 7000 points so it does accrue for each item you purchase. I had bought two of the Mitchum deodorant just to try it and the points keeps on adding up. So far, there are no restrictions, they may change it but so far it is absolutely awesome.

For the Mommas says
ozzy yep that should work – 2 coupons. 2 items :)
Anonymous says
Be sure and use the rr first or the MQ will attach to both items.
For the Mommas says
thanks!
Andrea Temarnatz says
Hmm, My walgreens considers the RR a coupon so you can only use one per item. No matter what order they do it in it doesn’t work. This is why I like CVS better :(
For the Mommas says
Even if you only have 2 coupons? So one coupon, one RR?
Anonymous says
1 coupon per item doesn’t matter if it is a r.r or a manufactor coupon . Register rewards are still manufactor coupons.
Melissa says
I don’t think this will work because the coupon is for both items. I know I have tried this at my store on getting 4 cans of pringles and using 1/4 coupon and it didn’t work I had to have that filler item, because technically the coupon is going towards the 4 items even though its one coupon

It’s hit and miss, it SHOULD work, it works at mine most of the time, but every so often I get a cashier that decides its different.
