Lessons from my purple-haired, teenaged self
Thrift stores and vintage consignment stores were my favourite places to find cardigan sweaters, velour shirts, torn jeans and anything strange or interesting. Quickly Instead, I relied on thrift stores, hardware stores, pet stores, army surplus stores, flea markets, costume stores, and dollarstores. Here’s Thrift stores: My favourite was the discount thrift store warehouse, that charged $1 for every I’ve been thinking a little bit lately about how much creativity I employed in my teenage fashions. A Few Of My Favorite (Thrifty) Things
Here are a few of my favorite decorations around our new place. I found this 'P' at a thrift store for 50 cents. The Home sign in the middle was a thrift store find for around $3. I have this on my filing cabinet, because I can't stand to have any space not decorated. :) Our family photo (in a $1 thrift store frame) with some fake leaves and a soy candle purchased in the clearance corner of a local country shop for $5. Which makes it free! I t recently occured to me that I have talked about decorating frugally, yet have never posted photos of my own home. As

Summer thrift-list
have a list of things I am looking to thrift this summer, mostly basic kitchen equipment. I So, on the “thrift list” for this summer includes:
Shopping GoLightly, at the Thrifty Chicks , suggests that we shouldn’t thrift-shop with a list, but I think it makes sense to have at least a mental list of what you need and what you don’t.
Yesterday I arose early to check out a garage sale at the United Church in Guelph. These These little church fundraisers can be hit or miss. Last

Breakfast Week-Buttermilk Waffles
You will need a waffle iron for these(nothing else will do). If you don’t have one, you might take a peek around your local thrift store, as waffles irons seem to show up at those types of places with some regularity.
Buttermilk Grease(I use cooking spray) and preheat the waffle iron. Those of you who frequented my very small(and now defunct) baking blog have already seen this recipe, but it should be new to the vast majority of you. Most waffle recipes have a shockingly large amount of oil or melted butter in them, but this one actually has no added fat.

Frugal Living Takes Planning and Thought...
I’ve wanted to write this post for quite some time but in an ironic twist the same reason I wanted to write this post was also keeping me from writing this post. So I can’t remember how many trips that first couple weeks there were to Target where was spend over $100- I kept thinking “if I could just get this at a thrift store- it would be like $2 instead of $20!!” And these days I sometimes have no time for thinking or planning!! If you have been with FFD for some time you may know that over 4 months ago my husband and I became foster parents to two little girls, 3 and 4 years
