The Microwave Oven Working With Other Appliances to Save on Utilities
So Penelope and I have learned that it is more efficient to heat water in the microwave before using it to cook on the stove or other appliances. Because a microwave oven heats water much faster than other means, we can cut the costs of cooking with our stove, slow cooker, or oven by taking this step. Safety Reminders.

Fast & Frugal Recipe: Super Easy Taco Salad
This is one of my favorite and easiest recipes for taco salad. Microwave for 1 minute to heat up Chili (You can also heat the chili on the stove but it would create another dish to wash.). It may not exactly be authentic Mexican cuisine, but it is fast at less than 3 minutes to prepare, inexpensive at $1.00 – $1.25 Chili. Salad*.

Wednesday Baking | Apricot Coffee Cake
This is a favorite recipe at my house…my kids love to eat it, and I love that it can be made ahead of time. It’s from a really old Fleischmann’s yeast recipe cookbook that I used to bake from when I was a teenager. Using a pizza cutter or a knife, cut one-inch wide strips along the edge of the apricot filling.

Balancing Act Basics - Untitled Article
I found this recipe in the May/June 2009 Taste of Home: Simple & Delicious magazine that I got for free earlier this year. The original recipe says to use ground beef; I used ground sausage instead to give it more of an Italian sausage flavor (this is supposed to be like pizza, after all :). Thaw 24 hours in refrigerator.
