Be prepared to ‘jump out of your skin” while taking an evening walking ghost tour through downtown Chattanooga, hearing tales (and maybe even getting pictures) of some of the city’s TRUE hauntings! The tour begins at Walnut Street Bridge (downtown side/South), and proceeds at a leisurely pace to the Read House, home of the infamous Room 311 and its permanent inhabitant, Anna Lisa Netherly. GATLINBURG --
Gatlinburg, voted one of the Top 10 Fall Foliage Destinations by TripAdvisor users, has views from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park combined with the charm and nostalgia a small town that has been around for more than 100 years.
There are some great deals to be had in Gatlinburg now and this fall. With lodging options ranging from $95-$169 a night and many cabin rentals and hotels offering the third or fourth night free there is no shortage of special packages to be found. Some hotels such as the Red Roof Inn are offering a two night stay as well as a Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies and a ziplining package for $169 total. You can view many of the deals and packages available in Gatlinburg here.
In addition to the natural surroundings, shops and myriad restaurants in town, Gatlinburg hosts fall events including the fall harvest festival, chili cookoff, Veteran's Day parade and the Gatlinburg Craftsmen's Fair. Peak times for viewing foliage in Gatlinburg are from late September to mid-November. I've included an image below with the spectacular views you can see during the season.
