Enjoy a variety of fun during one of Chattanooga’s downtown festivals and events, many surrounding the riverfront and one of the nations’ top-rated aquariums. All the downtown activities are connected via a free, electric shuttle. Events in the Lookout Mountain and outlying areas are only 5-20 minutes from downtown Chattanooga.
ChattaBOOga! – WHERE THRILLING ADVENTURES AWAIT YOU…
When ChattaBOOga transforms itself from Chattanooga in October, it's not the typical haunted venue. There's a haunted cavern; chilling encounters on ghost tours of paranormal sites; a killer critter craze where some of nature's most feared and notorious creatures are explored; a corn maze that's friendly by day, but a heart-stopping labyrinth by night; and a 3D fear factor experience in a forest of fear. ChattaBOOga! offers thrilling, chilling adventure and family fun you can't experience anywhere else. www.fall.chattanoogafun.com/
Descend 26 stories underground where Paranormal Investigators discovered a cryptic book which possessed special powers. Unearthing this book brought back to life Barnabus Hale and the entire decrepit side show, who revitalize themselves by unwitting guests that stumble into their Menagerie. Today, paranormal phenomena and haunting tales of the Ruby Falls lower cave system team with apparitions and other such characters, and the horrifying traveling side show which resides above ground. Not for the faint at heart, must be 10 years or older.

Learn about the chilling aspects of the predator/prey relationships in the natural world by uncovering the real facts about moray eels, scorpions, alligators, sharks, poisonous frogs and even penguins evading their fearsome predators. Come face to face with sand-tiger sharks, rattlesnakes, anacondas and moray eels. Special daily dives, feedings and gallery programs will also focus on the myths and mysteries of some of the most notorious and misunderstood animals on earth.

Getting the questions right is the key in getting out of this challenging, twisting, 10-acre labyrinth of trails, answering them wrong will only take you deeper into the maze. You can also enjoy a historic birdhouse barn, interactive haunted hayrides, playground, bonfire, ghost stories, live music and a kiddie hay maze. And if you dare, venture into the “Forest of Fear in Blowing Screams Farm” for a haunting, 3D experience. Very few people who dare trespass this mysterious and desolate place survive. This Blowing Screams Farm is an intense-scare attraction, parental discretion is advised. Forest of Fear is weekends in October.

Be prepared to ‘jump out of your skin” while taking an evening walking ghost tour through downtown Chattanooga, hearing tales (and maybe even getting pictures) of some of the city’s TRUE hauntings! The tour begins at Walnut Street Bridge (downtown side/South), and proceeds at a leisurely pace to the Read House, home of the infamous Room 311 and its permanent inhabitant, Anna Lisa Netherly. The stories in this tour have been researched; many are supported by newspaper articles and the remainder by books. Don’t forget to bring your cameras!

GATLINBURG --
Gatlinburg, voted one of the Top 10 Fall Foliage Destinations by TripAdvisor users, has views from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park combined with the charm and nostalgia a small town that has been around for more than 100 years.
There are some great deals to be had in Gatlinburg now and this fall. With lodging options ranging from $95-$169 a night and many cabin rentals and hotels offering the third or fourth night free there is no shortage of special packages to be found. Some hotels such as the Red Roof Inn are offering a two night stay as well as a Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies and a ziplining package for $169 total. You can view many of the deals and packages available in Gatlinburg here.
In addition to the natural surroundings, shops and myriad restaurants in town, Gatlinburg hosts fall events including the fall harvest festival, chili cookoff, Veteran's Day parade and the Gatlinburg Craftsmen's Fair. Peak times for viewing foliage in Gatlinburg are from late September to mid-November. I've included an image below with the spectacular views you can see during the season.
