If you're looking for opportunities to help out students in need there are some spots around town that can facilitate your donation drop-offs.
1. Hands On Birmingham - Backpack Drive
How it works:
Grab a school supplies list for any grade level at Walmart, Target or Kmart. (These are provided by the school) It can be any school, any grade.
Get a backpack.
(If you're purchasing for Birmingham City you'll need to get a clear or mesh)
Fill it up with as many of the supplies on the list as you can.
Include the list in the backpack.
Drop it off at the Hands On Birmingham office this month through Aug. 4. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Donations are distributed to children at homeless shelters and other charity organizations throughout the Birmingham-area. Number of children and poverty level determines how many each charity will get.
