Are you ready for Cyber Monday?  Are you sure?  Go over this checklist to make sure you’re prepared for shopping online and snagging deals today and Monday.

Retailers are touting Cyber Week, moving past Monday.   This can be a great time for savvy web shoppers to score deals and maybe even complete their holiday shopping lists.
Before you log in and hit add to cart take some precautions first:
Password -- Protect yourself and your accounts.  It’s recommended in cyberspace to change your password every three months.  Changing passwords often and creating strong passwords that do not involve birth dates etc. is essential when protecting your online profiles.
Secure shopping -- Look for the ‘s’ in the address when you get ready to pay for your purchase, for example: https:// means you are using a secure site.  If the ‘s’ is missing do not proceed to payment.
Alternative pay methods -- I prefer Paypal when shopping online, it affords you some protection as a buyer.  You may also have a pre-loaded gift card for the specific amount you intend to spend, instead of using debit or credit cards.
Virus protection -- Make sure your anti-virus software is up to date and working efficiently.  You never know when a site or ad may have malware.
While all of this sounds scary, don’t be afraid to shop online.  Familiarize yourself with the retailers you plan to visit, know their return policies and register for coupons.
