How did you do with your Christmas spending in 2018? Did you use cash or put your purchases on a credit card? But if those gifts were paid with a credit card that doesn’t get paid off as soon as the bill arrives, any savings from store sales, coupons, and/or rebates might be negated from the interest accrued.

Credit cards are a tricky subject and we pay off the balance every month, so I will write more about this soon. I said goodbye to mini-van life in January when we traded in our 2007 Honda Odyssey for a 2018 Toyota Highlander. This money gets sent automatically to the 529 accounts we set up for our girls in 2020.

Maureen eliminated $79,000 of credit card and student loan debt less than 3 years. Chris and his wife made a financial goal to switch to an all cash lifestyle, instead of relying on credit cards. The notes consisted of business loans and my husband’s student loan and we are projecting to be done in 2018.

This should cover my tentative 2019 Christmas budget that I based on what we spent in 2018. The goal is to use the money that you have on hand to pay for Christmas, and not resort to using credit cards. My monthly goal is $100. I’m challenging myself to find the cash outside of our budget. There is some time to get creative.
