Interview with Jacqueline Woodson, Author and Playwright

I had a chance to  interview Jacqueline Woodson, the author and playwright of Locomotion

(now playing at Children's Theatre Center).

1. What was your inspiration for Locomotion? I wanted to tell the story of what it meant to learn you had a voice and a talent.

2. How is it different to write for the stage vs. for books? Very. Books are very internal whereas the stage is external. The only way to show what people are thinking is through action and speech.

3. What do you hope audiences will take away from the play? I hope they’ll have a great time, come to love the characters and realize that they too have stories to tell.

Here's more about Jacqueline:
