The April announcement of Coldwater Creek filing for bankruptcy has now trickled into the final days of shopping for their fans. The stores, outlet centers and online store are in liquidation mode.
The liquidation company running the sale have marked everything 30 to 50 percent off storewide. The stores are still receiving items so shoppers may want to check frequently for new options. Most of the stores do not know their final day but some associates I spoke with think it will last until July.
There are eight Alabama locations:
Auburn, Village Mall
Birmingham, The Summit - Birmingham
Foley, Tanger Outlet Center - Foley
Huntsville, Bridge Street Town Centre
Mobile, Legacy Village at Spring Hill
Montgomery, The Shoppes at EastChase
Spanish Fort, Eastern Shore Centre
Tuscaloosa, Midtown Village
When you approach the liquidation sale keep a few things in mind:
1. Prices are not going to be super cheap. The liquidators are trying to make money not give inventory away.
2. You will not be able to pay with check and as the sale gets closer to the end you may not be able to use credit or debit.
3. If you're an opportunity seeker and know the CC brand you may be able to pick up some pieces and sell them on eBay for a profit later. Loyal CC fans may be looking for replacement or classic pieces and you could have what they're looking for.
4. Be prepared for a sad feeling in the store. The associates are losing their jobs.
