Reader Lori, a stay at home mom of soon to be 3, wanted to show us that you don’t need to pay for toiletries. Her purpose on this trip was to get two things she needed and purchase anything else to help make toilet paper and detergent free. She also wanted to walk out without any UPR’s, because she cannot get to Rite Aid easily,
After four transactions, her total oop was $21.15 and total rebates submitted $30.98 for a profit of $9.38!
Reader Heather sent in this picture to remind us that rainchecks, free coupon, and rewards programs are really worth the time and effort. She got free coupons for most of these items pictured Huggies, Herbal Essences, and Aussie. She waited until her Rite Aid was offering rewards for the products. Great idea Heather!
All of these products she scored for only $3.00 oop and get $6.00 back in UPR’s.
If you have a free coupon, like the Aussie & Herbal Essences pictured, hang on to it until you can get a reward at a drugstore, like Walgreens, CVS, or Rite Aid.
Do you have a fantastic shopping trip to share – email me at shannons@forthemommas.com.

Wow, she got a $9 profit on only $21 expenses out of product? That’s really impressive! It’s not on junk either – Charmin, Gain, Prevacid, all stuff my family would definitely use.

2 other ways i get free coupons. 1) contacting the company to praise or complain about an item. or 2)try me free stickers (well it is not a “free” coupon per se, but works the same at the end.

ok, call me dumb, it’s late. But — what do you mean “offering a reward”? and where do you get so many Free coupons that you have to keep track of them, lol? I would think they would more often expire before the stars alined for those specific products to be included in a buy $30 of xxx products, etc. offer … (of course you would just use them, not let them expire, but I mean before you could use them to further benefit you or make it a MM).

I am starting to see a new trend with free coupons having shorter expiration dates, but usually they have longer dates than other coupons. I have some lean cuisine coupons that don’t expire until 4/12. However, these longer dates can sometimes get me into trouble because I tend to forget over time. I almost lost my Pantene free coupon because it had a much shorter expiration date than usual. Ended up running to Safeway at 10pm the day it expired. After that, all of my free coupons are right up in front! I

offering a ECB, UP Reward, Register Reward …. There are a bunch of freebie coupons available — you just have to be online at the right time :)

I like to save mine for rewards/ups/ecb’s, too. Another thing is I also like to save my free product coupons for transactions that I need to meet a certain dollar amount threshold…like at CVS “Save $5 on $30” b/c the amount of the item counts towards that, but it’s nothing for me oop! :) I actually keep all my free product coupons on the very first page of my binder, so if I am in a store and need $xx to reach a dollar amount, I can quickly glance and see what I could use with no expense to me. It also helps me track them better to remember to use them before they expire. ;)

Where do you usually find the free product coupons?
Brenda says
Lately, it seems like Facebook as been the hot place for companies to offer free coupons. I often get frustrated with how quickly the coupons are gone or other issues, but they are great when you can get them. The last few weeks there has been some in our Sunday papers (Dr. Pepper 10, Crave cat treats, etc) There are several companies that offer free coupons through reward programs. I drink Diet Coke like it’s water so I joined their reward program and regularly cash in my points for free 12-pack coupons. Lean Cuisine and Stouffers have similar programs. Recyclebank offers high valued coupons and some freebies, too. If you have the time, you could send a quick note to your favorite companies and they often send high value coupons in response. For example, a few months ago I sent an email to Benadryl explaining that I use their products for my allergies year round but was disappointed that I hadn’t found any coupons recently. I was pleasantly suprised when I received a free product coupon in the mail (valued up to $14)!
Hope this isn’t too long winded and gives you some new ideas of where to look!
Erin says
Thanks Brenda, for the great ideas!!! We drink a lot of coke products also, so I’m going to look into that!!
