7 reasons Bargain Mom doesn't shop on back-to-school tax holiday weekend

Each year as back-to-school sales tax holiday weekend approaches folks ask me if I plan to shop this weekend. No, the answer is no.

Shopping during this faux holiday is not on my to-do list.  I'm one of those moms that can't stand the school year.  So my disdain for my children going back-to-school trickles over into me purchasing supplies.

I would rather be doing something fun with my children than shopping during sales tax holiday weekend.

So here are seven reasons why I won't be shopping this weekend:

1.  Crowds -- Shopping in crowded aisles annoys me to no end and nothing on my list is worth putting up with crowded stores and parking lots.  I've got better things to do.

2.  My kids have enough clothing -- I'm done with keeping up with the trends on children's clothing. (In fact I've been this way for about two years now, which also ended morning arguments.)  I let them wear whatever they want as long as it's comfortable and decent.  Sitting in a classroom all day is bad enough, so if they want to wear old T-shirts and comfy shorts I let them.

Also why buy jeans now? It's too hot.

3. Recycled school supplies -- I reuse all of their school supplies and replenish later in the year. No need to keep buying stuff when they have a bunch of items left over from last year.

4.  Saving 8 to 10 percent on any of the lower priced items isn't worth the hassle of shopping --

That's not a savings worth fighting the crowds.  (However, if you're buying a tablet or computer then this is the weekend to buy.)

5.  I ignore retail pressure to shop this weekend --

The sales are never better than sales any other time of the year. Seriously you'll find better sales as the back to school shopping season comes to an end in late August.

6. It's no fun shopping with kids --

Now is the perfect time to hit spots normally packed with families so I can, once again, avoid the crowds.  Taking kids shopping for supplies is a pain.  If they need something, I'll shop for it later without them. I also shop online to stay out of stores.

7.  Sick of spending money --

I'm going to be totally honest and let you in on a secret, I wait as long as I can to purchase items on the kids list. I loathe spending money on school supplies especially since I'm paying tuition for my three kids to go to the school they attend. So I'll wait as long as I can on purchasing all of the items on the list.
