Do you keep license plates?  They're interesting and can make great accents in frugal home decor.

This morning I took two of the several we have laying around and made bookends for my kids' massive book collection.

(The picture is a tiny fraction of the books they have in our playroom.)

License plates are 12 inches long.  I measured 3.5 inches on one end then used a ruler to mark a straight line as a guide to fold or bend the edge.

Then I simply bent the short 3.5 inch end over a straight edge counter.

If you mess up and it looks crooked just flatten the tag and start over.
