Frugal Halloween Decor: Spray Painted Spider Webs

spider web mounted.jpg

The Girl Scout troop I belonged to as a child would have awesome camp outs and hiking events at Camp Coleman in Trussville.

I remember all of the troop leaders taking us on nature hikes to earn different badges.

One badge we earned involved crafting with items found in nature.

Mrs. Merrifield, my troop leader at the time, came up with a cool project.

Spray painted spider webs.

I don't know where she got the idea, but once we did it, it was cool.

(By the way that was early 80s.)

Here's what you'll need:

1 can of spray paint -- black or white or any color for that matter.

1 contrasting piece of poster board -- black, white etc.

1 large or several small spider webs currently hanging

Directions:

Slide the poster board gently behind the web without disturbing it.

Spray lightly the paint evenly across the web.

Make sure the spider isn't home.

Once you're done painting, clip the four corners holding the web in place.

Tip -- make sure the spider isn't home or there isn't a bug trapped in the web.

Spiders spin a new web each night, so it won't hurt them to use one during the day.

Go

Once you're done, frame it or use it as a table decoration etc.
