It’s Friday night and quite frankly, I don’t feel like looking for any more deals. It has been a long two weeks, so I thought I would just say hello and check in with everyone.
Things have been busy around here. The blog technical issues have been keeping me really busy lately. Actually, they have been making me crazy.
Outside of the blog – We had baseball every weekend. Evan is on two teams. Makes for crazy weekends!
Now that Evan is getting a little older, his school work is requiring more of my time. He had his first project for his History Day Fair. I was a good Mom and let all of the imperfections go. His crooked cutting and gluing was really cute. I wanted this to be his third grade project, not Mommy’s I’ve been out of school for 17 years project.
He did a really great job on his own. He managed to type up all of the report on his own. We had an almost disaster with the glue, but Frank was able to fix that up. (picture this – glue, carpeting and a sofa)
I have been doing a little less shopping and couponing the past few weeks, but that is ok. Thankfully, we have a great stockpile and I really have not ran out of anything.
That is about all for me. How are things in your neck of the woods?

Bravo on a great project, Evan!

I was always tempted to FAIL the *perfect* projects when I taught, because I did NOT care to grade parents’ work. :)

@Amy @ Finer Things,
:) I am not sure I would want you to grade my project and my “PA Dutch” English.

Good Job Mama! Keep first things first and give yourself a break!!!

Shannon – Remembering to be wife & mommy first can be hard! Good job to you. I’m new to blogging – and even let myself get behind technically & didn’t have a facebook account until just months ago. But too many friends kept asking about help with couponing & weekly deals, so off I go!! I’m constantly crashing into techno hurdles, dusting myself off & sprinting off again. I hope your computer-woes soon resolve.
This is so timely! I will need to be taking mandatory days off blogging soon – also because of the kiids’ achievements & competitions, and wondering how I’m going to make that work – as I’m a one “man” shop. So, I’ll schedule ahead some. Do some quick posting at night. And let my readers know what’s up & for how long.
Thx for all you do!

Love this post so much! I really enjoyed and related to letting the imperfections go and taking a break. I’m a momma to two boys- 7 and 8. I have my own business from home, run a facebook, twitter and blog. And just added couponing to my list of hobbies last week. I’m hooked and having a ball. In fact, just ran out to Giant to score the tuna fish and the frozen veggies (in the rain- Yes I’m hooked :) But what I constantly work at- is keeping balance. The family is the most important work we will ever do. So it’s so nice to read about another mom working on the same thing. Enjoy the peeps and thank you so much for all the deals work you do.

Shannon,
Just wanted to let you know that everything you do on here is awesome, but we all know being a mom takes first priority. Without our families saving money and having a great stockpile would mean nothing. You are a great mom and couponer! :)
Things are just as crazy in my life! My 1.5 year old, college, and work take up 98% of my time. The other 2% I do my hobby-couponing! It has become an escape from all the stress and it is also super fun!! I love saving money!
Thanks again Shannon!!

Shannon, we all need a break sometimes. You do such an awesome job with your blog and as a blogger I know the hours that you must spend putting together your posts. I’m amazed at how much time my blog takes and I don’t even post that often anymore!
So enjoy your weekend…and none of us will die if you don’t post quite as much. :) Oh, and Evan is a handsome little fellow! I know you’ll never regret making him priority.

You are a great Mommy for letting the imperfections go. As an elementary school teacher I see too many parent completed projects.
Enjoy sometime relaxing this weekend!
Thanks for all you do!
Jenifer says
@Becca, I agree with Becca! I’m a college professor and those parent-completed projects turn into college students who can’t get a paper or project done on their own because they never had to when they were at home! He needs the sense of accomplishment and your encouragement. He’ll be a much better grown man for it in the end. Kudos to you, Shannon!
Thank you also for all you do. I appreciate knowing there is a real mom with real priorities behind your blog…it keeps me coming back for more all of the time. I’ve been off the bandwagon for a few weeks too. My hubby and I are getting prepared to be full-time missionaries and that has been my priority for a while. Coupons are needed to help us get where we need to be, so I’m jumping back on board this week :-)
Shannon says
@Jenifer,
Wow, are you going to be local or abroad? Kudos for you for entering such a selfless line of work.
Jenifer says
@Shannon, Thanks, Shannon! We’re going abroad. Should know our placement in a month or so. Hopefully, we’ll be on “the field” in September :-) We are crazy excited and nervous all at the same time! Thanks for your support. We appreciate all of the support and prayers we get. To God be the Glory!

Thank you for all you have been doing Shannon. FTM is unbelievable, but you are the M at the end of that, and that has to be your priority. And hey, so what if you don’t keep up with it all? It’s not like we’re paying you! I don’t even know if or how you do make any money doing this, but I hope you do.
I too have not really been shopping lately. Actually, we have lived off our stockpile for quite a while now, due to hectic work (I work from home, but very parttime), son in baseball, daughter in dance etc etc. I must say though, that it is time for me to go back to the stores. We needed to make space, move the old stuff out, and now I am ready to go back to it. (I dread going from one store to the next though,,,I must say that). I have been shopping without coupons here these last 2 weeks and it’s time to get back to it. I am spending Way too much without them. You have taught me well though…I know how to do them now..I know how to get the best deals at WAGS and CVS and I thank you!!

That is why I wrote to you the other day Shannon that you must be exhausted, the match-ups are exhausting for me to follow and I just try and keep track of all them. I to have a little boy age 7 and he just started soccer. He is on just one team and that takes up two days Sunday and Monday. His homework even though he is in just 1st grade is time consuming, every level of reading he moves up takes more time to get through the books but I cherish the time because I can see the wheels in his head turning and the spark in his eyes when he figures out a work he didn’t know before. I always say and truly believe that the MOST IMPORTANT job you will ever have is being a mom.

Everyone needs a break sometimes :) As a mom of a 10 month old son, I know exactly how you feel! Thank you so much for keeping up such a great website; I recently found your blog about a week ago and it has been extremely helpful in my daily chaotic life of trying to save some money for my family. Any good tips for starting a stockpile?
Evan’s project looks great! I think y’all did a good job :) Enjoy baseball practice, I can’t wait till my little man is playing one day. Take some time with the family and don’t stress over the small stuff. Hope you have a great weekend!
