Easter handprint cross craft + video (inspired by Pastor Saeed)

Christie Dedman/al.com The children built a cross this afternoon then we had a lesson about Christ's work and the real meaning of this weekend.

Last year this time Saeed was making a cross with the kids for Good Friday and Easter. Here is a video of Saeed explaining why the Blood of Jesus had to be shed to the kids :) We sure miss him. Praying that Saeed realizes it is nearing Good Friday and Easter in Evin Prison in Iran.

Abedini has been sentenced to eight years in Evin prison in Iran for being a Christian.  His wife and the American Center for Law & Justice are working to get him released.  He's been there for 180 days.  You can see an interview with Naghmeh on America's Newsroom here:

So now that you have the background of Saeed, I wanted to share with you the cross activity I did with my children today.  The cost was only $1 for the scrap or cul wood we purchased at Home Depot.  Each piece was 50 cents.

We then nailed the pieces together, I let the children hammer in one nail each.  Then we used red paint to stain our hands representing the sin and needed blood sacrifice.

There were other lessons incorporated into the building, painting and then washing our hands.  Saeed's home video inspired me to do things a little different with my children this year.
