TIP OF THE WEEK: DOLLAR DEALS AND BULK ITEMS ARE THEY WORTH IT?

Yes and no.  There are some items worth buying at the Dollar Stores (lots of grocery stored do carry $1 items.  They will have a specific area for them) and some items are not worth buying.  The products come in smaller sizes and so you may not be getting the best deal.  You maybe paying more per item and the product may not be that great.  Like the trash bags, paper towels etc. Same with Bulk items. You maybe getting more, but paying more per item.

So how do we know what is the best deals?  Here's a couple of things to keep in mind.

1. How much is the product?

2.  What is the size of the product? lb, oz, etc

3. Does my family like the product? 

EXAMPLE

I wanted to find a better deal on Syrup since my hubby likes pancakes and waffles.  I didn't want to pay the prices at the Grocery Store so I found some at the Dollar store.  It was $1 for 24oz. The Great Value Syrup at Walmart for the same size is: $2.14.

So I take $1 divided by 24 = $.04 an oz at DS

$2.14 divided by 24 = $.09 an oz at Walmart

So we tried the Dollar store brand

And we liked it!!!

So if you want to find a the lowest price you can just follow the above formula. Keep in mind this will be YOUR price list.  Everyone is different with likes and dislikes. But we will be buying our syrup at Dollar store unless Butterworth goes on sale!!!!!
