Thanks everyone! It is a very small store with no u-scan or anything. They actually don’t even double coupons the same way as the other larger weis stores. 75 cents will become $1 but not $1.50.
I will of course have my 3 and 5 year old with me when I do my shopping because it wouldn’t truly be the normal grocery shopping experience if I wasn’t distracted and pulling my hair out!

Some stores go by shelf prices. Others go by sale prices. I think the only way to know is to try a deal. If it doesn’t work, then have the cashier void the transaction or return things if you need to. Sometimes management/employees don’t know all the details of how things work.

I did it this morning without a problem.
6 boxes of graham crackers $12.00 ($17.94 shelf)
2 grape jellys $3.38 ($3.78 shelf)
$15.38 – $5. instant = $10.38
Actually looking at my reciept the $5.00 came off after my 6 boxes of crackers. Hmmmm

I’ve noticed that sort of thing before–it’s up to you if you want to capitalize on it ;)

Most of the stores customer service/managers know how their own sales work. They think it works on sale, but in fact it is shelf. I’ve been told that it’s on sale and not shelf MANY times, but I still do the deal and it works….on shelf. Trust what Shannon is posting.

I spoke with my weis on the phone and was told that this would only work with the sale prices not the shelf prices…are they lying or don’t know any better or could it be different at different stores…
Danielle M. says
In my experience, they’re not lying , they just don’t KNOW. I’d say, try it. 99% of the time, it will work. There are stores, where it won’t work/be hit and miss with shelf price vs. sale price, but it’s few and far between in what I’ve seen,
Janel says
They won’t tell you that you have to spend less to get the same deal…that would mean them losing money. Not all stores go by shelf price though… Different stores have different policies :)

Most Weis stores are based on shelf price. Most associates don’t know that. The only way you’ll know for sure is if you try the deal. Since it’s an instant savings deal, just buy what’s listed (or enough to make $20 shelf at your store–shelf price varies slightly) at the u-scan and see if the $5 comes off (you may need to hit the “pay now” button and then hit “back” if it doesn’t take off the $5). If it doesn’t take off the instant savings, you’ll need to add enough items to get to $20 sale price.

They may not know, or they may be lying. Only way to figure out if your store goes off of shelf prices is to go in and try it. Worst case scenario, you take the time, go to the register, pay and the $5 won’t come off. Hope over to the service desk and return. But if it does work, I PROMISE you will be so excited when you see these types of deals pop up!!!!
Stevie says
my store doesn’t have a u scan:( but if yours does, I would definitely follow Queen’s suggestion:)

So their is a glitch in Weis system that triggers savings deals based on shelf not sale price. I am assuming that at this point in time their are not enough savvy coupon/deal shoppers to justify the cost of a major computer system redo although it will happen eventually. Until then, at your own risk, we are taking “advantage” and getting some great deals.
Having said that I can assure you that even if they do know, they are simply going to tell you what the ad says. Even for experienced coupon shoppers the whole sale/shelf thing isn’t always easy to follow. I make mistakes at it all the time.

I go on vacation for a weekend and come back to all of these deals! I’m spending tomorrow getting organized and shopping!

Thank you!
