Does anyone know if you can get rain checks and still get the gas points? The stayfree section of my store looks like the bread aisle before a snowstorm.
Amy says
Hi Chris, Yes you should be able to get a raincheck just make sure when they are writting the paper for you they write on it that is it part of the gas deals so they can add your points when you redeem the raincheck

Did anyone else have trouble using the stayfree coupon? Every time I used one, the CS manager had to come with a key to enter the coupon. Took a lot of my time and since shopping at Martins in MD is a nightmare, my blood pressure was sky high when I left. I have low blood pressure so it was a pretty horrific experience. It really baffles me sometimes that some store employees think that it is acceptable to be rude to couponers.
Chris says
They would not go through. I had a horrible incident with those coupons, gas points and customer service. I thought I was going to blow an aneurysm in my head. I do have to say CS fixed it and was nice about it. While I was there, an older Italian lady came over to the desk and started berating the younger CS worker who didn’t look up when the customer approached the desk (CS just closed for the night). I would never talk to anyone like that. All over $2.
Ruth says
I talked to a couple of store managers about this issue with a number of employees at one Martin’s location and addressed the issue with their corporate office. I got a very positive response from Giant corporate and the store manager and I know rude customer service is frowned upon by Giant/Martins but they can’t control all their employees. It is a shame that some employees can ruin the reputation of an excellent chain.

We are in PA, and my husband and I had like $14.00 off a gallon from their gift card promotion. We filled up 3 different times and have 1 more to go. There is no cap. The points stay on your card until you use them or until they expire. I don’t know if MD is different.
Stacie says
Yes anonymous, I am shopping in Giant, Pa, Whitehall to be exact. It has been my experience that , regarding gas points, CS does not know or understand too much about it. When I get my gas, I will find out. I am hoping you are right.

Hi Stacie… I have been to the Whitehall Giant (near my parents), but we are regular Trexlertown shoppers. I have had similar problems with customer service at Whitehall. I have had overage on my gas points many, many times and they remain on the card until the expiration of points… which is Jan 18th this time around.

I agree with Ruth about the wording. I just went to Giant and here is what I did: I bought five Stayfree and five Carefree. I used two B1G1 and two .50 off Stayfree. For the Carefree I used four $1.00 off printables and one $.50 off from today’s insert. I paid $6.87 and got $.80 off a gallon. I now have $3.70 off per gallon, so I think that means free gas for me. I know someone has already said that it caps off at $2.20 per gallon, but that has not been my experience. I have had $2.60 off per gallon. I am wondering if anyone knows the official policy regarding this. Also, if it does cap off at a certain amount, does the excess remain for your next gas purchase, as long as it is in the allotted time frame???

Are you shopping at Giant PA? I always accumulate enough points for free fill ups. This month I had $7 in points because I sent DH to do a deal for my friend and when he put gas, instead of using our card, he used my friend’s. I was told at CS while claiming points that I didn’t get in a transaction, that it was pointless for them to give them to me bc once I fill up the remaining would dissapear. Told them it was not true but CS insisted and so did I lol n got my points. In my experience, the remaining points stay in the card until I use them or exp.
Ruth says
Yes, they stay on the card. A lot of customer service employees don’t do these deals so they just guess at the customer’s question.
JulieT says
Stacy, I shop Giant PA and I have gotten free gas and overages for the next time before it expires. Let’s say I had 4.00 off. The gas was 3.50 a gallon, it started me off at .50 until the expiration of the promotion and I would just keep accumulating from there. I don’t know about a cap.
Kathie says
Giant MD stores cap off at the pump @ $2.20. So, if you have $3.00 worth of gas points, only $2.20 will come off, but, the other $0.80 will remain on your card until they expire.
Ruth says
Aren’t those Giants a different chain?
Kathie says
Yes, Giant MD is a different chain, but, is still owned by the same parent company. Stacie was asking about the gas points being redeemed being capped out at $2.20 a gallon. I just wanted to point out that it’s Giant MD & not Giant PA that caps the gas point redemption to $2.20 a gallon.
Ruth says
I used to shop at those Giants all the time, they had some pretty good deals but I think they changed their coupon policy so it was not worth for me to make the trip. I never tried to do their gas points. I may look them up again and see if it is worth making the 30 min. trip to get some good deals. Same thing with Shoprite, I used to get some great deals there until they changed their coupon policy to 4 like coupons a day. The customers service at the one in Newark, DE was bordering on harassment so I quit going there also.
Ruth says
I have doing these gas points for years. I have two cards, one for me and one for my mom and I always fill it up weekly with the 3500 points and get free gas for my family. The only cap is that is that you can do the deal 10 times so some weeks when the deal is not very good and you only earn 200 points. You will stop at 2000 + points, you can still earn points by buying the 5X deals but usually that is not a good way to earn points. On the weeks when they are offering 400 points per deal and like this week, there is also the coupon on the sunday paper where you earn 300 points when you buy 50.00, you will get to the 3500 points before you do 10 deals. Once you redeem your points, any excess points will remain on your card until the expiration date. Two weeks ago, I had 5200 points, redeemed 3700 and still had 2200 points. If the deal is good, I keep doing the deal until I reach the 10 deal limit.

For the Carefree liners, I found 1.00 peelies on some packages. The coupons had a different wording so I was able to use a few of them during my visit.
Ruth says
The wording on the coupon for the Stayfree is confusing. It says one coupon per person but it also says one can use up to 4 coupons per shopping trip or per day. I used it a Rite Aid today and the manager said that I could use 4 per day. At Rite Aid, the register prompted them to review the coupon wording and hit the accept key. This prompt was new to them so I guess they are getting much more strict with these type of coupons. I also used the 5.00 Teena coupon and the same prompt came up. The Teena pads are 6.99 but with my 20% discount it was 5.49 so I paid .49 cents for the pads. All the deals I did today were paid of the spend 100.00 get 15.00 so I’m at 92.00.
