My Giants/Martins is having 5X the gas rewards. I’m not sure how to calculate it into savings.

Calculate it by using this formula: 5x savings = Not much savings at all, really. It’s a scam Giant is doing to get more money from people. Kinda like how the lottery is just an extra tax for people who just aren’t good at math. The 5x gas points are nowhere near as good for consumers as their previous system. But it SOUNDS good at least!
Actually, here’s how you figure it and rather than use a math formula, I’ll express it in everyday terms. Say you buy $100 worth of those 5x items. Instead of getting 100 points ($.10 off per gallon) you’ll get 500 points ($.50 off per gallon). Then multiply that times how many gallons you get (30 max). The best you can do with that is get $15 off of a 30-gallon tank for every $100 you spend, so that’s basically like getting 15% back on groceries. Not bad, but if you’re not getting 30 gallons you aren’t getting back as much. 20 gallons would be like a 10% return.
If you DO like math, then calculate it like this:
(Cost of food) x (.005) x (# of gallons you get when you fill up).
Hope this helps!
