7 Tips for shopping the Walmart clearance aisle

Ever swing by the clearance aisle at your local Walmart?  Have you ever stopped by the clearance aisle at a Walmart you don't normally visit?

They are all the same.  Nasty, disorganized and the clearance is hardly clearance.  It can be frustrating, annoying and so irritating you may have resolved to never stop by one again.

Is that you?

Well if you still haven't made up your mind about ditching the aisle here are some tips for navigating these wastelands of unwanted and often overpriced goods:

1.  Know your prices --

Most of the items on the clearance aisle are still regular price.  Did you know that?  Yep and it's a shame that Walmart tries to trick the consumer by putting a red tag on the item signifying clearance.

2.  Pay attention to the boxes --

You know all of those opened items returned to customer service and there's nothing wrong with the product?  Guess where it ends up?  That's right the clearance aisle and sometimes it's not even discounted.  Watch for packaging tape and ripped boxes.

3.  Don't waste a lot of time digging --

There are never really any great deals on any given Walmart aisle.  It's easy to waste a significant amount of time digging only to walk away with nothing.

4.  Find a price scanner --

Scan everything.  Prices are never what they seem.  If you see a yellow tag on a box the last 4 digits of the numbers in black are the price.

5.  Be prepared for a disorganized scene --

If you're not willing to fumble through the chaos I would skip it all together.  I wish Walmart would come up with a better system.

6.  Save your receipt --

Don't forget to inspect items as soon as you get home and return it immediately if it's missing parts, directions etc.

7. Look for leftover holiday items --

That will be your best source for scoring deals.  Items featuring 'HOLIDAY TIME' in the label usually are 90 percent off.
