Make sure to find out when your local stores mark down meats. My major supermarket does it at 8 am on Saturdays. Buy when it’s marked down and put it in the fridge.

Can someone please HELP ME? I’m a mother of 3 , I’ve always stayed at home because my husband worked. He was in a bad accident 2 weeks ago & I am in BIG TROUBLE & NEED TO FOND WAYS TO SAVE. I have a budget and it leaves me NOW ONLY $60.00 to feed a 5 of us each for an entire

I do a lot of scratch cooking. Parboiled(same as converted) rice is nutritious and cheap. Dried beans can be cooked in a crock pot and are much cheaper than canned. I use TVP for protein. It is much cheaper than ground meat when rehydrated and works well in dishes. Powdered milk works well in cooking. I even use it in instant mashed potatoes. I hope this helps some.

Even with great coupon deals, you’re not going to feed a family of 5 for $60 for a month. Coupons will def. help you, but you’re going to need to search out other services in your area: wic, snap, food pantries and clothes closets. Click on the getting started link at the top of the page to help you learn how to stretch your money from there. Hope that helps!

Hi Cathy,
Thank you for your advice. I should have rephrased my post. I have $60.00 a week to be able to buy food with. I went over my budget quite extensively & that’s what I came up with. Of course top priority being my mortgage & Utilities . Needs vs Wants… My kids are my #1 concern & like all mothers I will do what ever I need to , to make sure there well taken care of as they always have been. It’s hard , they have been through aot with my husbands injury . I want to maintain as much normalcy as I can , I don’t want this to have long term effects ( emotionally) I’m a constant worrier anyways… Any helpful advice is what I’m looking for. I appreciate your comment & thank you
