I just did this deal at my local Giant. The signage on the Sudafed was confusing — there are two Giant stores nearby, and the labeling at them was different, and the customer service people didn’t know whether the kind that you get at the pharmacy counter was included or not — but I went with the signage at the one that said that the 16-count Sudafed 12 Hour Pressure and Pain was included, and it worked.
So, I got:
1 Sudafed P+P ($10.99 – $1 coupon)
2 Visine Advanced ($4.58 – $3 coupon)
2 Benadryl 24 ct ($6.98 – $3 coupon)
1 Aveeno body wash ($5.49 – $1 coupon)
Not the absolute cheapest I could have done, but the best combination of things I use. Worked out to $19.94, and at ten gallons of gas, that becomes $14.94, or about $2.50 per item, which is roughly half price for the Visine, Benadryl, and Aveeno, and about 75% off on the Sudafed.
If you do this deal with the Sudafed Pressure and Pain, then you have to pay for everything at the pharmacy counter.

Yeah. I joined the Allergy Rewards program at Rite-Aid, so Zyrtec is a better deal for me there (once I buy two more packages of the dissolve tabs, I’ll get the $20 +UP), but Sudafed and Benadryl and all that Aveeno stuff? Awesome. I’ll wait until next Thursday, to see if the $5 Aveeno offer comes back on next week’s Checkout 51. (It was there for the past two weeks, and then not this week, so I don’t know if it’s coming back.)

Plus, I might actually get some of those coupons in the newspaper this week, since I’ll be visiting my aunt in Boston on Sunday. The local paper’s Red Plum inserts are usually pathetic — there will be maybe three pages of actual coupons, and then the rest will be the stuff for commemorative coins or address labels or things like that. Whenever I visit my parents, their newspaper says something like “$423 worth of coupons inside!” I can’t remember ever seeing that number on my paper go above $200, and sometimes it’s less than $100.
