Wooden Snowman Craft

Wooden Snowman Craft

This year I started doing Home Healthcare and I have one client I am with 40+ hours a week.  I absolutely love my job! Every week I try to find new things to do with her and we found this amazing program through Kenton County library (Northern Kentucky) called Memory Cafe. The Memory Cafe is for people suffering from memory loss, dementia, Alzheimer’s or brain injury. The library has created a space for patients and caregivers to relax and have fun.  The program supplied all the materials to create this Wooden Snowman Craft!

How to make your own Wooden Snowman Craft

Supplies

  • 3 wooden slices (different sizes)
  • 1 large wooden slice (base)
  • White craft paint
  • Orange craft paint (optional)
  • Brown craft paint (optional)
  • Mini Grapevine wreath
  • Plastic or wooden Holly leaves and berries
  • Mini winter hat and scarf (can find in craft stores)
  • Plastic Fall leaves
  • Fall decorations
  • Hot glue gun
  • Scissors
  • Paint Brushes
  • Smiling Face Stickers/or Permanent Marker

Directions

Step 1:

Paint one side of all three wooden pieces white.  Let it dry.

Step 2: (Optional)

Paint the other sides of the wooden piece’s orange.  Let it dry.

Step 3: (Optional)

Mix a brown paint with the orange to make a darker orange shade.  Paint lines to simulate pumpkin ridges.

Step 4:

Place the snowman face stickers on the smaller wooden slice or draw face on with permanent marker.

Step 5:

Glue the wooden slices to build the snowman.  Place them from larger to smaller.  After you build the snowman, glue it to the wooden base.

Step 6:

Glue the grapevine wreath to the base.  You may have to cut the grapevine to fit.

Step 7:

Glue holly leaves and berries to the wreath.  Finish the snowman by placing the winter hat and scarf on his head.

Step 8: (optional)

Glue the fall leaves and other decorations to the pumpkin-side of the centerpiece.

This would be a very fun craft for classrooms.  It is also possible to order these kits on Amazon or in craft stores. We will be making a couple more of these over Winter Break!
