Shop around at garage sales, thrift stores and online classifieds for furniture and other household items. Stop using your credit cards. Credit cards make buying too easy and you usually end up buying too much when you use them. And if you rent, save money and then invest the difference.

I love to shop garage sales. By paying college tuition at the state university with a cash back rewards credit card (and then paying the balance off before any interest charges came due!!), Use your card for the other purchases you make as well. Learn to love hand me downs from relatives. Get Rewarded.

Garage sales – need I say more? For example, if you are buying gas at the pump, ask before you pump about their cash discount policy – let them know that you know that they pay a 3% or more credit card transaction fee. The lady ahead of me in the line at Walmart mentioned that the frozen pretzels she was buying were $3.00

You know you shouldn’t be using credit cards all the time. You go weekend e-baying, garage-saling or to the flea markets. You spend until the money runs out and then you put your purchases on your credit card. If you are bringing in less than you spend, you need to fix that fast. You have no budget.
