We got an amazing deal on it, because of our willingness and ability to take possession right away. It became apparent that there are some unique challenges of being a young landlord. This week, I am thankful: for kind people who let us borrow space heaters I already had one from my Buy Nothing group, but I also got to borrow one from my landlord and two from neighbors. Anyway…I’m gonna find the good in a not-that-fantastic situation. So, hey, at least these firefighters got to learn something new!

Not everyone is cut out to be a landlord or landlady. Heck, I made less on the deal than Uncle Sam did! However, we have not been able to claim that loss due to the overly complex and landlord unfriendly income tax laws we now have. If your relationship with that investment property has soured, maybe it is time to sell.

Just think – when the pipe breaks, you just call your landlord and you don’t have to deal with (or pay for it) yourself. Furthermore, not everyone wants or knows how to maintain a property. Many people prefer to rent in order to have the benefits of a house without the risk of ownership.
