Beat the Back to School Blues at Kentuck – August 18 10am to 2pm

August a la cARTe brings a variety of activities for children and parents to help them Beat the Back to School Blues on Saturday, August 18th from 10 am – 2pm in the Courtyard of Wonders at Kentuck Art Center.

Learn how to write to your blues song with the help of local blues musician Alan Lane, also known as Doobie Doghouse Wilson.

Impress your friends by playing that song on your very own comb and wax paper harmonica.

See a demonstration of how to make cigarbox guitars with local artist Bart Lynn of Hamaki Box Guitars.

Find a cute something to celebrate the beginning of the school year from local craftsperson and artist Irasema Hammock.

Go back to school in style with jewelry made by Harriet Crunk.

And the Alabama Blues Project will be present to share information on other blues activities happening throughout the year.

If the heat gets too much for you, check out the Kentuck Gallery Shop and exhibition spaces, open 10 am to 4:30 pm every Saturday
