Run the dishwasher or have your children help with the dishes. You can often by these cheap at garage sales. While I understand that 19 kids can generate a lot of dishes, just think how much waste they generate by using paper plates for every meal. Or you can make them yourself.

We shopped at garage sales, turned down the heat, combined errands to use less gas, didn’t buy a lot of prepared food, cooked at home and the like. We had a dishwasher, but it was broken and we didn’t want to spend the money to repair it – so we did without one – for 10 years! I cut the family’s hair.

When the door on my super quiet dishwasher broke, the salesman informed me that its replacement only has a lifetime of around 7 years! When I go to garage sales, I see folks selling nearly new home decorations for a pittance. It doesn’t pay to re-decorate every few years.
